Men’s Tennis Falls to No. 44 Clemson

Clemson knocked off Mercer, 4-0
CLEMSON, S.C. – The Mercer tennis team took 44th ranked Clemson on Sunday and the Bears came out on the short side as they were defeated 4-0.
Coming off an outstanding win at Wofford the day before, Mercer was looking for the upset of Clemson on Sunday. The Bears found themselves early as the Tigers took home the doubles point, by winning No. 2 doubles and No. 1 doubles.
Clemson took No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-0 taking a 2-0 lead over Mercer. The Bears did not go away as Lucas Wayenburg battled in No. 2 singles. Wayenburg won set one, 7-6 (4) before falling in set two, 7-5. Set three had just started and the match went unfinished.
David Georgadze battled in No.4 singles as he dropped set one, but was up 3-2 in set two before his match would go unfinished. Like Georgadze, Samuel Barrow dropped a highly contested set one, 7-5, and was tied 3-3 in the second set before going unfinished.
The Tigers claimed No. 3 singles 7-6 (3), 6-2 before clinching the match with a win in No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-2.
