Men’s Tennis Heads to the SoCon Championships

The Bears are the fourth seed entering the SoCon Championships
MACON, Ga – The Mercer men's tennis heads to Birmingham, Ala. to open up play in the Southern Conference Championships on Friday. The Bears are the fourth seed in the field and will take on top-seeded ETSU in the Semifinals at 10 a.m. from the Hoover Met Complex.

Scouting the Bucs
ETSU enters the SoCon Tournament as the regular season champions. They defeated Samford, 4-0, on April 18 to take home the league crown. Earlier this season, the Bucs defeated Mercer, 6-1, in Macon.
As a team, the Bucs were 58-45 in singles play this season. In SoCon play, ETSU only dropped seven singles matches and were 32-7. Dimitri Badra lead the way with 13 wins, including 10 coming in the No. 1 singles position. Frazier Rengifo ranked second on the team with 11 wins, 10 coming in the No. 2 singles position.
Just like singles, the Bucs double play was outstanding in Southern Conference action. They were 15-5 in SoCon doubles matches and 30-20 overall on the season. ETSU played 13 different double teams this year and Dimitri Badra and Miguel Este led the way with 11 wins. Picked up eight wins in No. 3 doubles. Juan Lugo and Frazier Rengifo won seven matches in No. 1 doubles and were the only team to win in No. 1 doubles.
SoCon Tournament (Tournament Central)
The winner of the Bucs verse Bears matchup will face the winner of Samford and Furman in the Southern Conference Championship match. The championship match will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m. CT) from the Hoover Met Complex.
