Mercer Loses Series Against Western Carolina

Cullowhee, N.C. – The Mercer Bears were unable to maintain their 3-0 lead in their final game against WCU, falling 5-3.

WCU 5, MERCER 3
Elisa Rosado would be the first and only Bear to touch base in the top of the first inning, reaching with a double to right center.

Rosado would record the next hit as the lead off in the top of the fourth, singling to the shortstop.

The Bears touched the board in the top of the fifth starting with a walk from Adele Braun. Kenlie Harvey reached on error and advanced with Braun with a sacrifice bunt from Sophie Sumner. Alyssa Woods loaded the bases with a single. Rebeca Laudino doubled to right center and batted in three runs: Braun, Harvey, and Woods. Mercer 3, WCU 0.

In the bottom of the fifth, Mentel and Brewington reached on errors. Henry was walked, loading the bases before a walk from Huneycutt scored Riddle (pinch runner). Twitty hit a grand slam to give the Catamounts a two-point lead. WCU 5, Mercer 3.

Diamond Williams singled in the top of the sixth while Woods singled in the seventh. The single from Woods would be the only of the inning and the Bears would fall 5-3.
