Mercer walks off ETSU in Game Two
Macon, Ga. – The Bears and Buccaneers split their Saturday doubleheader, with each game going into extra innings.Â
ETSU 3, MERCER 2
Rebeca Laudino led the bottom of the first with a bunt single.Â
A leadoff homer from Adele Braun gave the Bears an early one-point lead in the bottom of the second.Â
Annie Potter singled in the bottom of the third.Â
The Buccaneers tied the game in the top of the seventh starting with a single from Cameron Young. Sara Muir doubled, advancing Young to third. A sacrifice fly from Riley Nayadley scored Young to tie the game.Â
Outside of a single from Sophie Sumner, the Bears were unable to regain the lead in the bottom of the seventh, causing the game to go into an eighth inning.Â
As the lead of the bottom of the eighth, Alyssa Woods singled.Â
The Buccaneers broke the tie in the top of the ninth, again with a single from Young. A sacrifice bunt from Peyton Coleman advanced Young to second. An error by the shortstop allowed for Savannah Ricketts to reach first and Young to advance home.  ETSU 2, Mercer 1.Â
The Bears tied the game in the bottom of the ninth. Diamond Williams walked and advanced to second with a fielder's choice throw to first. The batter, Morgan Hall was safe on the play. A hit by the pitcher to Tori Ash loaded the bases. Woods earned a walk to score Williams. Tie game.Â
A runner was placed at second for the 10th inning. The runner, Bailey Turnbow stole third and scored on a shortstop error.Â
The Bears were unable to capitalize in the bottom of the tenth.Â
MERCER 2, ETSU 1
The first hit of the game for the Bears would be from Diamond Williams in the bottom of the fourth. Madison Headley earned a walk in the same inning.Â
In the bottom of the fifth, Kenlie Harvey earned another hit for Mercer with a single to the shortstop.Â
The Buccaneers would be first on the board with Warren reaching first with a bunt. A single from Young scored Warren before the end of the inning. ETSU 1, Mercer 0.Â
Tori Hedgecock lead the bottom of the sixth with a walk. A sacrifice bunt from Headley advanced Rosado who pinch ran for Hedgecock. Rosado advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly from Potter. Tie game.Â
In the bottom of the sixth both Harvey and Braun walked while Woods singled. However, the game remained tied leading to extra innings.Â
Potter singled in the bottom of the eighth.Â
In the final inning (9th), Laudino led with a walk. A double from Woods, scored Laudino allowing the Bears to complete a walk off win.Â
Up Next
The Bears will play the Buccaneers again at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Seniors will be recognized before the game.Â
