Mercer Wins Second Game to Tie Series
Chattanooga, Tenn. -Â The Bears secured another conference win after splitting the doubleheader against Chattanooga.Â
CHATTANOOGA 6, MERCER 3Â
Alyssa Woods would be the first Bear on base with a single. Annie Potter followed suit with a single advancing to second on the throw. On the first pitch, Diamond Williams homered scoring Woods and Potter. Morgan Hall singled in the top of the first inning as well. Mercer 3, UTC 0.Â

Emily Coltharp singled in the bottom of the first for the Mocs, stole second and eventually scored on a single from Kailey Snell. Kaili Phillips reached base after being hit by a pitch. A double from Reagan Armour scored both Phillips and Snell to tie the game in the bottom of the first.

At the top of the second Tori Ash led with a double followed by walk from Kenlie Harvey.

The Mocs extended their lead in the bottom of the second starting with a single from Gracey Kruse. Kruse stole second and scored off a double from Coltharp. UTC 4, Mercer 3.Â

A walk from Diamond Williams would be the only action for the Bears in the top of the third.

Back-to-Back singles from Acelynn Sellers and Phillips allowed the Mocs to extend their lead in the bottom of the third with Sellers scoring on a sacrifice fly from Presley Williamson.Â

In the top of the fourth Rebeca Laudino singled with a bunt and stole second while Woods walked.Â

The Mocs met the board again in the bottom of the fourth. Colthorp singled, stole second, and scored off a triple from Olivia Lipari. UTC 6, Mercer 3.Â

A double from Ash in the top of the sixth would be the last of action from the Bears, falling to the Mocs in game one.Â
MERCER 6, CHATTANOOGA 3Â
In the second game, Woods would again be the first Bear on base with a single. Immediately after, Potter doubled, scoring Woods.Â

The Bears extended their lead in the top of the second starting with a single from Grace Prom. A single from Harvey scored Prom, putting the Bears up by two.

In the top of the third, Woods led off with a single and Potter reached on a fielding error. A wild pitch allowed Potter and Woods to advance with a double from Williams scoring them both.

Ash led the fourth with a single and Harvey earned a walk. Â

The Mocs reached the board in the bottom of the fourth with a homerun from Phillips.Â
Â
For the Mocs, Kruse doubled and scored off a Colthorp single, putting the game within two in the bottom of the fifth.Â

The Bears extended their lead in the top of the seventh starting with a bunt from Laudino who also stole second. A single from Woods advanced Laudino to third. Laudino scored on a sacrifice fly from Potter and Woods scored on a single from Williams.

The Mocs were unable to respond in the bottom of the seventh, falling to the Bears to tie the series.

The Bears will play the Mocs again at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, weather permitting.
