MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team had their first road game of the season against Kennesaw State this afternoon. The Bears finished 0-7 with five hits.

How It Happened
Senior Rebeca Laudino started out the game with a gorgeous bunt single and recorded the first hit of the game. Her hit would be the only offensive action until the fourth inning. The Bears held the Owls defensively and did not give up a run until an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.
Grace Prom hit a single to right field that went right between two KSU defenders. Prom's hit advanced Sophie Sumner to third. However, Kennesaw's infield plays were strong and they were left on base. The Owls picked up the pace and recorded one homerun and three runs in the fifth. They continued to hold their defense and Mercer left two runners on base after a catch at second. Kennesaw scored three more runs in the sixth due to errors but was ended by a strikeout from Grace Taylor. The Bear's offense did not pick up in the seventh innings and the Owls took the game 7-0.

The Bears will be on the road this weekend for the Hatter Classic hosted by Stetson University. Mercer's first game will be against Monmouth University on Friday, February 17th at 12:00 p.m.
