
Mercer Set for Weekend Matches Against FGCU

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's tennis team will travel to Fort Myers, Florida for matches against FGCU on Friday, February 17 at 5 p.m. and Saturday. February 18 at 12 p.m. The Bears originally had a match scheduled against Temple in Fort Myers but will play two against FGCU after Temple withdrew. Mercer will line up with a different set of starters as two players are out due to injury this weekend.Â

RECENT ACTIONÂ
The Bears are coming off two defeats on the road last weekend. Mercer lost to FAU 6-0 and Stetson 6-1 in Deland, Florida. The team played a tough match against FAU as Andrew Branicki, Lucas Dini, and Marceau Foulihoux all forced third sets, but FAU claimed all the singles points. Â

In the match against Stetson, Branicki and Samuel Barrow won 6-3 in the second doubles slot while Foulihoux and Mariano Argote took a 7-5 win in the third doubles slot. Â

SCOUTING FGCUÂ
The Eagles have lost two matches this season: one to USF 5-2 and another to FAU 5-2, both in January. The team did not play for over two weeks between the match against FAU and the latest match against Georgia State which FGU won 6-1 last Friday. Â

FAU's first doubles team, Magnus Johnson and Max Damm, are 4-1 together this season with their only loss being to FAU. Magnus is also 4-1 this season at the first singles slot with his only loss coming against Bucknell back in January. Â
