How It Happened
GAME ONE, vs Monmouth University
The Bears started the game with a walk for Alyssa Woods. Woods advanced to second thanks to a SAC bunt from Sophie Sumner. Rebeca Laudino's hit helped her move to third and she scored due to a muffled throw from the shortstop for Mercer's first run. Monmouth was able to finish out the inning with three Bears left on base. Mercer's defense held strong with an easy three up and three down in the bottom of the first and second.
Kylie Helm recorded a SAC bunt to move Sumner and Laudino to scoring positions. However, the Bears could not capitalize and kept the lead 1-0. The bottom of the third brought two runs for Monmouth after multiple singles. Mercer got the bases load and due to two walks acquired two runs to take the lead, 3-2. The bottom of the fourth was nice and sweet with three caught pop-outs. Grace Taylor retired after 63 pitches with three strikeouts in the bottom of the fifth.Â
A hit from Sumner brought Emma Dorval home after she singled and was able to make her way to third for the setup. Mercer finished the top of the sixth in the lead, 4-2. The seventh was highlighted by the Bear's run game. Madi Wicker scored due to a wild pitch, Hedgecock was able to come home during a single from Dorval, and two more runs thanks to Laudino. Helm picked up her first home run of the season and brought in two runs in the process. Monmouth homered to make it 10-4, but would not continue and mercer would take the game. The Bears finished with ten runs, 11 hits, and two errors.

GAME TWO, vs Stetson UniversityÂ
Woods and Helm picked up their first hits of the game, but the Bears could not capitalize and left three stranded. Stetson picked up two runs after a single out to right field and a RBI down the first base line. Stetson served a three up three down in the top of the second. The Hatters had a single homer to further their lead and the inning was indeed by a double play from Tori Hedgecock. Laudino singled to third base in the top of the third, but Stetsons defense did not give. Mercer's defense quickly picked up and finished the third with three ground outs.Â
Mercer was served another three up three down and Stetson homered for the second time to further their lead, 5-0. Stetson's defensive held strong with only one Mercer run recorded. The Hatters homered again to score three runs to mercy rule Mercer and take the game, 8-0.
