
Bears Take Down Fairfield

MACON, Ga. –  The Mercer men's tennis program (6-6) defeated Fairfield (1-5) on Saturday afternoon, 5-2, at the Randy Stephens Tennis Center.
All three doubles pairs won to claim the first point for the Bears. Mariano Argote/Samuel MacLeod won their sixth doubles match this season. The pairs of Nemanja Stefanovic/Marceau Foulihoux and Samuel Barrow/Lucas Dini each won their second doubles match of the week.
Foulihoux, who leads the team with nine singles wins, claimed the second point for Mercer with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court five. MacLeod notched the next point for Mercer with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) win on court four.
On court six, Barrow won the clinching point for the Bears with a 7-5, 6-4 victory. After dropping the first set 6-4, Dini fought back to win the second in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-4) to force a third set 10-point tiebreak which he won, 11-9.
Argote came extremely close to a win on court one as both sets he dropped were in tiebreaks, falling 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 1-0 (10-7).
UP NEXT: Mercer will travel to face Jacksonville State on Wednesday, March 1 at 10 a.m.
