2/28/2023 11:30:00 AM | Men's Tennis
MACON, Ga. – The men's tennis team will travel to Alabama to face Jacksonville State on Wednesday, March 1 after winning the past two matches at home. Â
Â
MATCHDAY INFOÂ
Mercer (6-6) vs. Jacksonville State (5-5)Â
Wednesday, March 1 | 12 p.m. | Jacksonville, Ala. | JSU Tennis Courts
Â
RECENT ACTION
The Bears have spent the past two matches at home against Georgia College and Fairfield last week, defeating both opponents 5-2.Â
Â
All three doubles teams came out of the week undefeated along with multiple singles players. Lucas Dini, Samuel MacLeod, and Marceau Foulihoux each went 4-0 over the weekend. Foulihoux is now 9-2 in singles this season, leading the team, after winning four-straight matches.
Â
SCOUTING JACKSONVILLE STATE
Most recently, the Gamecocks lost to UAB, 5-2, and Troy, 6-1, while sweeping Wallace State Community College, 7-0. Troy and Furman are common opponents for Mercer and JSU, so the matchup against the Gamecocks could be a good indicator of those outcomes.Â
None of the players have stayed at one spot too long as everyone has been moving around in singles and doubles play. Agustin Cuellar is 1-4 so far this season, only appearing at the first singles slot while Xavier Sarda Marti is 5-3 for the season and has gone 3-0 in the first slot.
Cuellar and Sarda Marti have teamed up four times this season in the second doubles slot, going 3-1. Court one for doubles has been occupied primarily by Lucius Soller and Vanja Dobrnjac, winning three of eight matches together.Â
