Mercer to Host University of Northern Iowa

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team will be at home this week for a match-up against the University of Northern Iowa at Sikes Field. The Bears sit 4-9 on the season after a tough weekend at the Mercer Bear Invitational.

"We're working on improving the game within the game," said head coach Fico. "More quality at-bats, cleaner defensive innings, and sharper spots from the circle."

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
UNI is 5-6 on the season with their most recent win being against Western Carolina (7-1) at the Panther Invitational this past weekend. The Panthers are on a five-game winning streak coming into the contest. Mercer will face a strong defense and will have to look out for senior pitcher, Kailyn Packard. Packard recorded three straight strikeouts against WCU and currently holds a 1.73 ERA with 28.1 innings pitched. The team is led by Ryan Jacobs; he is in his 15th season as head coach and has a 393-311 overall record.
