Bailey Ledvina doubled to center field and advanced to third thanks to a single from Tori Hedgecock. The Bears could not capitalize and left them stranded. The Bulldogs picked up one more run to further their lead, 4-0. The Bears heated up in the third getting one run on two hits. Parris Wiggs doubled and was advanced by a SAC bunt from Rebeca Laudino. Wiggs was then brought home after a flied out from Kylie Helm. Grace Taylor was in the circle surpassing 88 innings pitched and with the help of the defense served Samford a three up and three down in the third and fourth.Â
The fourth innings brought major offensive work for the Bears where they sent all nine batters to the box. Avery Barton doubled to the right and was brought home with a homer from Hedgecock. Morgan Hall was hit by a pitch and was advanced to second by Lillian Wilkerson. Laudino singled and record a steal to second. Helm would single to bring both Hall and Laudino home. Mercer finished the fourth ahead, 5-4. Hedgecock homered again in the fifth and now leads the conference in home runs. The Bulldogs picked up two runs on two hits to tie the game at six heading into the sixth.
Laudino singled but would be left on second. A single home run in the bottom of the sixth put Samford leading, 7-6.
