Bears Fall to Catamounts

Macon,GA. – Bears fell today against the Western Carolina Catamounts in a doubleheader at home.Â
How It Happened
GAME ONE
   Bears started off strong serving a quick three up three down. Rebeca Laudino was hit by pitch and advanced by Parris Wiggs. She was left on, finishing the first scoreless. Not much happen in the second. The Catamounts took the lead with two runs on two hits and sat the Bears down in order to finish the third leading, 2-0. WCU picked up another run in the top of the fourth, but was quickly answered by the Bears. Bailey Ledvina recorded her third homer of the year and was followed by another homer from Kylie Helm. The Bears finished the fourth trailing 2-3.
   The Catamounts furthered their lead by two. Sophie Sumner walked, but was left stranded to keep the Bears trailing, 2-5. Bears held two on base in the top of the sixth with nothing offensively in the bottom. WCU stayed strong in the seventh and took the game 5-2. Grace Taylor finished the game with an impressive stand in the circle with four strikeouts.
GAME TWO
   WCU came out of the gates hot taking an early 2-0 lead. The Bears got two on, but left them stranded. Five pitches retired the Catamounts in to top of the second with no hits or any on base. The third brought nothing for both teams. Mercer sat Western Carolina down in order to start the fourth. Kylie Helm walked with Emma Dorval coming in to pinch run in the bottom. She was advanced by Tori Hedgecock and was brought home by a single from Madi Wicker. Mercer served another three up three down and trailed going into the sixth, 1-2.Â
   Ledvina walked to start the bottom of the sixth, but is left on. Nothing for the Catamounts in the top of the seventh with Katie Rearley finishing six innings with no hits retiring the last 13 batters she faced. Sumner was hit by pitch and was advanced by Alyssa Woods. It was not enough and the Catamounts took the series and game two, 2-1.Â
