MACON, Ga. – The Mercer softball team will travel to Chattanooga, Tennessee on Wednesday, May 10 for the SoCon Softball Championship. Their first match-up of the championship is against the No. 4 seeded Western Carolina Catamounts.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Western Carolina sits 20-24 on the season with an 8-11 conference record. They are currently on a four-game losing streak after a sweep from University of North Carolina Greensboro last weekend. Western Carolina is right above Mercer in the SoCon standings and will be the Bears first opponent of the SoCon Championship. The Bears will have to watch out for Bailey Huneycutt, who ranks fourth in Runs batted in (37) and fourth in on base percentage (.438).

NOTABLE BEARS IN THE SOCON

Rebeca Laudino is ranked eleventh in the conference in batting average with .337 and is ranked third for stolen bases with 18.
Tory Hedgecock is second in the conference for home runs recording thirteen homeruns so far this season. Hedgecock is also top 10 in runs batted in.
Parris Wiggs ranks ninth in the Conference in Stolen Base with nine.
