SERIES HISTORY |
Georgia Tech leads the all-time series with Mercer by a 53-17 margin, and will ride a six-game series win streak into Wednesday's outing with the Bears. Junior Tori Hedgecock hit a 3-run blast in last season's 11-3 home loss to GT. |
SCOUTING THE YELLOWJACKETS |
The Yellowjackets (10-7) are fresh off of a perfect 6-0 weekend at their own I-75 Tournament in which they registered a pair of wins over UNC Greensboro and Ball State, as well as triumphs over Robert Morris and Army. Georgia Tech has raked in all 10 of its wins this season in the comfy confines of Shirley C. Mewborn Field, while two of its three losses in Atlanta came at the hands of then-No. 14 Alabama. Â Georgia Tech ranks among the nation's top-10 teams in slugging percentage (2nd, .672), home runs per game (3rd, 2.00), doubles (8th, 30) and batting average (9th, .365), but also ranks among the nation's best with 58 walks in 2024 as well. Seven Yellowjackets are maintaining .342 batting averages or better, including sophomore Paige Vukadinovich who boasts a .500 (16-for-32) clip with five doubles and eight runs scored. |
UP NEXT FOR THE BEARS |
The Bears will hit the road again this weekend when they travel to Boiling Springs, N.C., for the Gardner-Webb-hosted Spring In The Springs tournament. The Bears will play a pair of games against both Binghamton and North Carolina A&T, while also tangling with the host Bulldogs on Saturday evening. |
