CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Visiting Mercer pounded out 14 hits and erupted for five runs in both the third and fourth innings to cruise past Western Carolina, 13-1, in an abbreviated series rubber match on Saturday afternoon at the Catamount Softball Complex.

It was the sixth win in the last nine outings for the Bears (15-18, 4-2 SoCon) who have now captured each of their first two league series for the first time since the 2019 campaign. Western Carolina (8-19, 1-5) has now dropped eight of its last nine outings, and fell to 15-20 all-time against the Orange & Black.
