SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 39th all-time meeting between Mercer and Furman. Furman leads the all-time series, 27-11, with the Paladins winning the first matchup this season in Macon, 79-74.
LAST TIME OUT
Ahmad Robinson led led Mercer with 16 points, but the Mercer Bears fell at home to Wofford, 77-66 Saturday afternoon from Hawkins Arena.
Both teams shot 40 percent from the field, but the Terriers shot 35.3 percent from deep, making 12 three-pointers to just five made threes for the Bears who shot 22.7 percent from behind the arc. Neither team had a decisive advantage on the glass in what was a matchup of two of the top three rebounding teams in the SoCon. Wofford had 44 rebounds to Mercer's 40.
NEED TO KNOW
Freshman Brady Shoulders has scored in double figures in three consecutive games for the first time this season. He also had a career high six steals last time out against Wofford.
SCOUTING FURMAN
Furman enters Wednesday's game with an 18-7 record, including a 6-6 mark in conference play. The Paladins have been up and down throughout conference play this season as they haven't won or lost more than two games in a row in conference play.
Furman has been excellent at home as they are 10-2 in Greenville this season. The Paladins rank fourth in the SoCon in scoring at 76.6 points per game and third in scoring defense at 69.2 points per game.
Furman averages the second most assists per game in the SoCon behind only Samford at 17.1 assists per game.
Furman's leading scorer is PJay Smith Jr. who ranks fourth in the conference in scoring at 16.3 points per game. Nick Anderson is the only other Paladins averaging double figures in scoring as he scores 13.6 points per game.
