Bears Kick Off Weekend Trip To NY At St. Bonaventure

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer men's lacrosse team will kick off their spring break trip to Upstate New York as they face the Bonnies of St. Bonaventure on Thursday, March 6 at noon.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the second meeting these two squads. The last time the Bears and Bonnies met was March 4, 2020 in Macon, Ga. resulting in Mercer coming away with a 17-8 defeat over St. Bonaventure.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bears faced Drexel in Atlanta, Ga. at Bobby Dodd Stadium for the 2025 Atlanta Lacrosse Invitational on Saturday, March 1. Drexel's offense got off to a hot start and Mercer was never able to catch up, ultimately falling to the Dragons 21-6.
All six Mercer goals were scored by different Bears. Dillion Bush kept his scoring streak alive after registering a goal in the third quarter. Mikey Frederick and Luke Fox both notched a goal each along with three freshmen in Will Zylstra, Ganon Cope and Will Schepis. Quinn Kelley led the defensive side of the field with three groundballs and Nolan Filley caused two turnovers.
SCOUTING ST. BONAVENTURE
The Bonnies are led by Randy Mearns who enters his eighth season at the helm for St. Bonaventure. The Bonnies finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 1-11 and a 0-5 record in the A10, with their lone win coming against Canisius. St. Bonaventure currently sits with a record of 2-4 with a 18-7 loss to VMI and an overtime 9-8 victory over Mount St. Mary's.
The leading goal scorer, currently, for the Bonnies is Conor Murphy with nine goals and five assists across six games. Following closely behind is Kyle Pepper who has 13 points with seven goals and six assists on the season. On the defensive side of the field, Patrick Shanahan has scooped up 18 groundballs and Benny Carter has caused five turnovers. Goalkeeper Isaac Farmer has recorded 51 saves (.468) across six games for the Bonnies.
