ATHENS – Jessie Taylor got visiting Mercer on the board with a leadoff blast in the top of the second inning, but 11^th-ranked Georgia pounded out 17 hits, including five of the extra-base variety, on the way to an 18-1 victory over the Bears on Wednesday evening at Jack Turner Stadium.

The setback kept the Bears (13-16) winless away from Macon this season. It was the fifth win in the last six outings for the nationally-ranked Bulldogs (24-8) who improved to 18-5 at home as well.

KEY INNINGS
BOT 1	Georgia tacked up four hits in the first inning alone, but it was an error on the very first batter of the frame that opened the door to four unearned runs. The Bulldogs followed with four RBI knocks, including Sarah Gordon's go-ahead sacrifice fly, to fuel the scoring.

The Bears will return home again this weekend when they suit up to take on Southern Conference rival Wofford (23-5, 2-1 SoCon) in a three-game series at Sikes Field. The squads will open the weekend with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, and close out the set with a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday. Admission to all three games is free.
