Kemp, Kamaka Named Mercer Student-Athletes of the Week

MACON – Talia Kemp's career-best performance on the hardwood and Titan Kamaka's scorching bat led to big results for their respective teams as the pair take home this week's Mercer Student-Athletes of the Week honors.

Kemp, a sophomore guard from Orlando, Florida, set a new career high with 19 points in Mercer's 68-55 win over Chattanooga. Kemp shot 7-for-9 from the field to pace the Bears in scoring and secured Mercer's first win over the Mocs since the 2021-22 season. Kemp's career-best performance against the Southern Conference leaders helped the women's basketball program secure the No. 5 seed in the SoCon tournament.

Kamaka, a senior shortstop from Orlando, Florida, became the second consecutive Mercer baseball player to receive SoCon Player of the Week honors after a tremendous week that resulted in the Bears' going 5-0. Kamaka finished the stretch of games with a .615/.727/.846 slash line with five RBI, three doubles, seven walks, three runs, a stolen base and a hit-by-pitch. Kamaka helped Mercer secure its second weekend sweep over Penn with a 4-for-4, four RBI and two-double performance in the Bears' 10-5 win over the Quakers this past Sunday.

Kemp and the women's basketball team begin SoCon Tournament play against No. 4 Furman in Asheville, North Carolina, tonight.
